University Hospital Centre Rijeka

During 2005 and 2006, ZO INVEST Company made a Preliminary Design of University Hospital Centre Rijeka.

The Preliminary Design of University Hospital Centre Rijeka was made on the basis of completed and accepted medical-technological and building-installation program, Technological and Conceptual Design for University Hospital Centre construction, compatible with accepted Detail Development Plan for University Campus and University Hospital Centre at Trsat.

University Hospital Centre’s position is determined by the General zoning plan of the city of Rijeka, on the area of 8,40 ha, which includes the existing surface of hospital complex and a part of the surface of today's barracks at Trsat, intended for development of University Hospital Centre. Planned gross building area amounts to 240.000,00 m2. The area includes accommodation for approximately 1800 vehicles in underground garages.

The Preliminary Design was made in the manner of Design for obtaining the Preliminary Permit; it includes 9 buildings with following facilities.

The accommodation for approximately 1000 hospital beds is being planned in these buildings, as is organization of polyclinic, diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. It is foreseen: Daily hospital with daily surgery, central OP ward with 12 OP theatres and 9 OP theatres within separate functional units, central ICU, emergency room service, laboratory diagnostics, medical supply facilities: pharmacy, transfusion, hospital kitchen and laundry, management, teaching and research facilities. In addition to these facilities, “service plant“ part of the hospital is being designed as well: thermal energy plant, service and storage areas, central control system, waste disposal plant, etc.
